I would not have believed it possible that Hillary Clinton's remarks could become much more ghastly, but she has now managed to plumb deeper:

CNN.com reports that Clinton is now openly touting her support from 'whites' :

"In what appear to be the New York senator's most blunt comments to date regarding a racial division in the Democratic presidential race, Hillary Clinton suggested Wednesday that "White Americans" are increasingly turning away from Barack Obama’s candidacy.

"I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on," Clinton said in an interview with USA TODAY."

It only gets worse:

"Clinton cited an Associated Press poll "that found how Senator Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."

"There's a pattern emerging here," she said."

Presumably Clinton meant to refer to those 'blue-collar' or 'working-class' whites we are recently hearing so much about--the very people that both the Clintons have done so much to shaft, over the last 30 years. That is, presumably she did not deliberately stoop to equating 'hard-working Americans' with 'white Americans.'

Either way, however, this beyond-gaffe should put an end, once and for all, to any suggestion that she is somehow more seasoned and ready for the White House than other candidates.

She's in a hole, and she just keeps digging.
