4:02 p.m. All channels okay--Back to MSNBC, from Ohio, holding forth on weather conditions, said to be messy. But still expecting a record turnout. Some concerned commentary about the effect of bad weather on senior citizens, who are conceived to be mostly Clinton supporters. The MSNBC personnel do not want them to be kept from the polls in Ohio today.
4:09 p.m. Jack Cafferty comes on, preliminary to his show, up next in the lineup. Cafferty mentions the Clinton attacks re Canada and Rezko, and refreshingly points out that Barack Obama has not brought up any of the numerous scandals in the Clinton past--and then ticks off a quick list: travelgate, Bill Clinton's extramarital conduct in the WH, the missing records that turned up in the White House after having been lost to sight, the Lincoln Bedroom sleepovers for bigtime campaign donors, etc. Cafferty's question for tonight is: How much will Canada and Rezko injure Obama in today's primaries?
My guess wd be not much, proportionate to the total vote. It is still discouraging to see the biggest media outlets falling in line behind the newest Clinton attacks. Are they really being buffaloed by that line that the media have been soft on Obama? If Obama is a good man--and I think he is--doesn't accuracy require that that not be concealed?
4:11 p.m. or so--Back to MSNBC--more commentary on women and on how women will vote, and again the line is drawn betw older and younger women. Back at the beginning of this year, we were hearing that most women supported Clinton except for women of her own generation, i.e. older women. Seems to be a different slant now. As usual, the real divide is informational, rather than generational. But the news media never find that kind of thing easy to admit, or even possible to admit.
