Final post of the day-- The polls close in Mississippi at 8:00 but the networks do not call the state for Obama immediately. Takes them about 20 minutes. Can't tell the margin exactly, yet.

Out in California, as commentators and panelists discuss on MSNBC--Olbermann and others--Geraldine Ferraro has followed up on her historic comment about how only a black guy could be in Obama's successful position, right now. She then retorted to critics that she is being attacked because she's white.

Howard Fineman makes some good points on this, responding to questions about why the Clinton campaign does not repudiate ...   more »

The Repubs in NY state are issuing a stern ultimatum to Gov. Spitzer, although they are considerably outnumbered in the state legislature: Resign within 48 hours, or we will impeach. Dumb. If there is any rational dimension to this move, given that Spitzer's situation is already dire, IF there is, it's that they want to strip him of any last chip so he can't be maneuvered into cooperating in a further investigation.

10:20 a.m. CNN--NY Lieut. Gov. David Paterson being featured. Not for the last time.

10:25 a.m. more hashing over juicier details of the filing in re Emperors Club VIP--higher prices for some girls, etc., considerately illustrated with a file photo of Eliot Spitzer, just in case the wider public does not know by now who "Client Number-9" is said to be.

One question that actually might be significant: Did Spitzer, who famously prosecuted prostitution rings himself, learn about this company called 'Emperors Club VIP' in the process of his work?--either during his prosecuting days, or later? No question he picked ...   more »

Live-blogging what is already shaping up to be another day of intense spin, esp by the Clinton campaign and everyone directly or indirectly supporting the Clintons--

9:55 a.m. on MSNBC--'morning Joe' Scarborough's task of helping Hillary Clinton secure the Democratic nomination, so the GOP has a better shot at winning in fall, just got harder overnight. Abruptly, devastatingly, much harder: New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, a Clinton 'superdelegate', was allegedly caught in federal wiretaps doing apparently repeat business with a very expensive prostitution company. This from the guy who, now married 20 years and the father of three girls, made ...   more »
View Article  Leading to Iraq: High crimes and misdemeanors. October, 2003, continued.

Oct. 13, 2003 – The Wall Street Journal reports that the U.S. has found no evidence that Saddam Hussein was planning to destroy Iraq’s oilfields. While the Pentagon has taken credit for preventing sabotage of Iraq’s oil capacity, a U.S. Army study indicates that there was never a real threat of oil fires across Iraq, and there is “little evidence that speed pre-empted an imminent scorched earth campaign.”

Oct. 14, 2003 – The FBI interviews I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, Vice President Cheney’s chief of staff, in the CIA leak investigation.
