In all fairness to Vice President Cheney it must be conceded that he is not the only holder of a federal position who participates in canned hunts.

 

Our Deputy Assistant for Fish, Wildlife and Parks in the Department of the Interior has done the same. As an investigation by the Office of Inspector General for Interior clarifies, David Smith, the Deputy Assistant in question, shot an aged bison, described as so tame it could practically be petted, during a visit to a non-commercial guest ranch in December 2004.
