Another William A. Rusher group – Choosing this moment to attack Murtha’s medals.

Why, just when the membership of Judge Samuel Alito in the noxious Concerned Alumni of Princeton is receiving unwelcome attention, is another group connected to William A. Rusher attacking Rep. Murtha?

This attack comes in the form of a long, predictably sickening article, “Murtha’s War Hero Status Called into Question.”

It is being run by “Cybercast News Service” (“The Right News. Right Now.”)

Their contact information is given as Cybercast News Service at 325 S. Patrick Street, Alexandria, VA 22314

By phone 703-683-9733          Toll Free 877-CNS-NEWS”

(Also they are listed at the same address and phone as Free Enterprise and Media Institute, MediaWatch, TV Etc, and The Media Research Center Inc.)

Their own “history” states, “The Cybercast News Service was launched on June 16, 1998 as a news source for individuals, news organizations and broadcasters who put a higher premium on balance than spin and seek news that’s ignored or under-reported as a result of media bias by omission.

Study after study by the Media Research Center, the parent organization of CNSNews.com, clearly demonstrate a liberal bias in many news outlets – bias by commission and bias by omission – that results in a frequent double-standard in editorial decisions on what constitutes "news."

In response to these shortcomings, MRC Chairman L. Brent Bozell III founded CNSNews.com in an effort to provide an alternative news source that would cover stories that are subject to the bias of omission and report on other news subject to bias by commission. . .”

Checking the Commonwealth of Virginia State Corporation Commission database, one finds that the Chairman of the Media Research Center is William A. Rusher (Treasurer, Douglas C. Mills; Dir., Leon J. Weil; Dir., Harold Simmons, Jr).

We just heard from Rusher, hardly hours ago, via Sen Specter, on the topic of Alito and the Concerned Alumni of Princeton.

Rusher, of course, was behind the propagandistic National Review (one of whose editors is a commentator on PBS for the Alito hearings who, needless to say, found nothing in the CAP matter to be concerned about). Rusher also was behind the CAP organization. And Rusher assured Specter by phone that he would be happy to turn over the CAP documents to the Judiciary Committee. He would have done it sooner, had the Committee or Sen Kennedy asked, etc etc.

A couple of questions: Did Rusher turn over all the CAP archives/docs? Is anybody checking through them besides Arlen Specter staffers? What other kinds of support has Rusher provided or is Rusher providing for the Alito nomination?

And most of all: Why, oh why, is another Rusher group just now trying to start a fire about Rep. Murtha? Is there any reasonable possibility that this is coincidence?
